PhD student at Max-Planck-Institute for Biology of Ageing
I am from Colombia, but I have been living in Germany for almost 7 years.
I studied Biology (in Colombia) and then came to Germany to do a MSc in Molecular Biology and then a PhD in Genetics.
I am obsessed with the idea of making the world a better place. I also think that Biotech can improve the lives of thousands of people if applied correctly. Therefore, I thought the GapSummit would be a great place to start merging the world I am familiar with- science- with some of the problems in the world that can be tackled through biotech.
I have to say the highlight for me was the sense of belonging I got right from the start. Being in a place surrounded by highly motivated people that want to make change happen is such an empowering experience!
I have recently finished my PhD and I am wrapping up the science in the lab. At the same time, trying to define what to do next. There are so many options it's almost overwhelming. Postdocs, start-ups, pharma industries... I guess I'll have to decide soon!
