Kristen Shatynski, PhD

Professional Staff Member, U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee

Kristen Shatynski serves as a Professional Staff Member on the House Energy and

Commerce Committee’s Health Subcommittee. She oversees the public health

portfolio, which includes issues related to the National Institutes of Health, Centers for

Disease Control and Prevention, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services

Administration, Indian Health Service, and the Health Resources and Services

Administration. Before joining the Committee in 2017, she served in the personal

offices of Representatives Greg Walden (OR-02) and Jackie Walorski (IN-02). Kristen

got her start in policy through the American Association for the Advancement of Science

Congressional Science & Technology Policy Fellowship Program working in the office of

Representative Devin Nunes (CA-22). She holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Microbiology and

Immunology from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and a B.A. in Biology

from La Salle University.
